CU Medicine Patient Experience Week 2023

In honor of Patient Experience Week, we gathered stories and feedback from our staff and patients to highlight the importance of patient-centered care.

Patient Experience Week is an annual event that brings together healthcare providers and staff to celebrate and recognize the importance of patient-centered care. Hear what the patient experience means to our CU Medicine providers, staff and patients.

Karen Ashbeck, DOCU Medicine Obstetrics & Gynecology – Parker

Dr. Karen Ashbeck was such a good listener and so knowledgeable about my situation. She made me feel less stressed, listened and addressed all of my concerns. I was a new patient for her, but she did not rush through my appointment as she learned why I was seeking her care and expertise. She was very kind and professional, and by the end of the appointment I felt like I had known her for years. I highly recommend Dr. Ashbeck to anyone requiring an OB-GYN.

Poojitha Valasareddy, MDCU Medicine Medical Oncology – Highlands Ranch Specialty Care Center

Dr. Valasareddy treats you with respect and concern about your health. She treats you like you are one of her own family members.

Katherin Compton, DOCU Medicine Family Medicine – Landmark

Dr. Compton is a great doctor. She cares, listens to you, gets to the root of the issue, explains everything in terms you can understand, and has a great bedside manner. She really ROCKS!!!!!

Tracy Koller, FNPCU Medicine Internal Medicine – Cherry Creek

Tracy always listens to my concerns and allows me to actively participate in my care plan. She answers all of my questions and provides me with multiple resources, when available. The office staff, and medical staff have always been kind and respectful to myself, as well as others. I truly appreciate their time and positive attitudes.

Emily Rosen, MDCU Medicine Obstetrics & Gynecology – Central Park

I really appreciated the time Dr. Rosen took to listen to everything I was saying and to ask a lot of questions. She explained and talked through all of my options with me and helped and allowed me to make an educated choice for my treatment. She also was extremely knowledgeable about current research and treatments which was exactly what I was looking for in a doctor.

Satya N Nelluri, MDCU Medicine Cardiology – Highlands Ranch Specialty Care Center

Always listens and hears what I am asking and or telling him. Makes recommendations based on our conversations. Supports my choices; always provides me feedback on pros and cons of options. Dr. Nelluri is a wonderful provider. I recommend him to friends and family.

R. Andrew Gaines, MDCU Medicine Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery – Highlands Ranch Specialty Care Center

Amazing bedside manner. Dr Gaines is truly interested in listening to his patients and genuinely cares about them. I am so very happy that I chose him. He walked me through my entire cancer care, from diagnosis to after care and now two years cancer free. He took all the time I needed to answer all of my questions concerns. This is a rare occurrence in the medical field today. I would recommend him to any family or friends that needed his specialized services.

Paul Maroni, MDCU Medicine Urologic Oncology – Highlands Ranch Specialty Care Center

Dr. Maroni and his nursing staff made me feel very comfortable by explaining each step of the procedure and what to expect. This was very effective at reducing anxiety. Thanks to Dr. Maroni's skill, the procedure was virtually pain free. Dr. Maroni also took time to brief me on the location of the prostrate biopsy samples he took. The nurse explained post-op care thoroughly.
