Medical Toxicology

The Medical Toxicology specializes in treating individuals who may have had toxic exposures, at work or home or in their daily lives. This expert team specializes in interpreting complex lab analysis and determining if symptoms may be related to a past exposure. We focus on acute and chronic poisoning, adverse drug reactions, substance abuse and withdrawal, envenomation, workplace chemical exposure, drug effects and metabolism, and mass exposure to industrial chemicals and chemical, biologic, and radiologic weapons. Patients may be referred by their primary medical provider as many physicians can initiate investigations into poisoning.

Our Toxicologists provide patient care in a wide variety of settings including bedside consultations in the emergency department, intensive care unit, and on other inpatient units. We also see patients who might have issues related to toxic exposures in our toxicology clinic.

We strive to enhance the care of poisoned patients by training specialists in toxicology, investigating new treatments, and ensuring that patient care is guided by experienced providers specialized training.
