2023/2024 Open Enrollment for Individuals and Medicare

Learn about getting health insurance and staying covered during open enrollment for individuals and Medicare in Colorado. Also get handy links for more information about signing up for Medicaid.

It’s that time of year again - open enrollment for individuals and Medicare starts this fall and CU Medicine has your coverage in mind.

Open enrollment periods serve as your chance to sign up for health insurance or make changes to your current plan. Whether you need to get insured or want to find a different policy, open enrollment makes it easy.

Medicare Open Enrollment

Open enrollment for Medicare runs from October 15 through December 7, 2023.

During this time, Medicare recipients can make changes to their Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans for coverage starting January 1, 2024.

To join a Medicare health plan, you generally must:

  • Have Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance)
  • Live in the service area of the plan you want to join
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawfully present in the U.S
  • Have your Medicare Number and your Part A and/or Part B coverage start dates - find this information on your Medicare card

Individual Open Enrollment

Individuals in Colorado can sign up or renew health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado. Open enrollment for Connect for Health Colorado runs from November 1, 2023 through January 15, 2024.

Connect for Health Colorado is the official marketplace for individuals to:

  • Shop online and compare plans
  • Apply for financial help
  • Get help from certified experts

Starting January 1, 2024, CU Medicine will begin accepting Select Health Value Colorado Option, Select Health Value, Select Health Monument Value and Select Health Medicare. Select Health is a partnership between Intermountain Health and UCHealth.

Medicaid and CHP+

Individuals may qualify for Colorado’s Medicaid program Health First Colorado or Child Health Plan Plus CHP+ year-round. These programs provide free or low-cost health coverage for those who meet income requirements.
