Research Interests for Patients

My research focuses on traumatic brain injury in children. I am specifically interested in understanding what processes result in worsened brain injury in the hours and days after head trauma, and how to prevent or reverse those processes to improve outcomes.

My research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in secondary injury after pediatric brain trauma. My current experiments focus on mechanisms involved in blood-brain-barrier breakdown and the development of cerebral edema in the acute time period.
